Coleman's Vision For Indianapolis

On day one, when I'm honored to serve as your next City Councilor, these will be the issues and causes I will fight to improve.

Infrastructure

Public Safety

Public Education

Workforce Development

Small Business Growth & Entrepreneurship

Youth Programs & Empowerment

Infrastructure

Infrastructure must be a top priority to any mayor's administration and city council. It's a shame how bad our roads have gotten! These craters slow traffic, making daily commutes more difficult and costing drivers and taxpayers more money! The potholes are also an eyesore to visitors or prospective enterprises who may want to bring jobs to Indy. This Must Be Fixed!

Public Safety

Indianapolis crime rates increase every day. More Police on the street and money in the budget is said to be the solution, but it’s not enough. I will support more money and resources for our police. However, we must address the real issue of reforming our justice system and making sure our communities are empowered to defend and protect themselves. We must connect with neighborhoods and community leaders to regain trust.

Public Education

The state of our city schools should concern and alarm all of us! Our children deserve better! School closings and limited and outdated resources hinder growth and learning in schools. Also, low teacher pay and fewer incentives makes it harder for our city to compete in the education field. Indianapolis children deserve schools that encourage them to dream among the clouds, and provide them with the resources  they need to chase those dreams in the 21st Century.

Workforce Development

Our city is on the verge of becoming a major player in the Tech industry. In the 21st century technology is King. We must train and develop not only our youth but our current workforce. We need more investments into programs offering trade skills and updated knowledge to cope with the change in industries. More trade and certified training will bring more opportunities and income growth to our families and young people.

Small Business Growth and Entrepreneurship

Big name companies such as Amazon can be a great asset to our city. But small businesses should be the heart and blood of our communities. A small business maintains culture and provides a unique experience that big chains and franchises cannot provide. They provide critical jobs in our communities and convenience. We need a city government that fosters entrepreneurship and opportunities for small business growth.

Youth Programs & Empowerment

Our city's youth is the future! Our city can only survive and prosper if we're training, forming, and encouraging the youth to be great leaders and community citizens. We need more programs that encourage humanitarian efforts and leadership opportunities. More programs that invest in the arts and encourage entrepreneurship would be a benefit to the city's youth.
